Owings X

The Owings X is my take on an X shaped guitar.  I've made a 25 inch 6-string version shown above.  I'll probably also make a 7 or 8 string version.  The electronics are passive, with volume, tone and pickup selector.   The pickup selector is 5-way, for a combination of split and humbucker selections for the pickups.

The shape seems like it would be uncomfortable but it is actually not that bad.   It is light and can be held two ways while seated.  The bottom legs of the X are balanced in height which allows the guitar to stand easier.   The eucalyptus wood is hard but elastic and has a nice resonant tone, which makes the guitar fun to play even unplugged.  High gain pickups give it a nice metal sound when overdriven.
