Owings G
This clamshell passive guitar has a rounded horn shaped body with the pickups and bridge forward on the body making higher frets on the neck to be in a comfortable playing position. It can be solid, hollow or semi-hollow.
One thing about the hollow is that it encompasses the bridge. This causes string vibration to move the air within the hollow much like a full hollow body guitar. The loss of string vibration changes the decay rate and harmonic blend of the strings. The guitar thus has less sustain and notes become smoother sounding as they sustain (due to loss of higher harmonics). |
